The City of Blaine has made the decision to postpone the annual 4th of July fireworks show. The fireworks show is funded each year with revenue from the charitable gambling fund. As bars and restaurants were closed to help slow the spread of COVID-19 that meant that there was no charitable gambling(pull tabs) activity. Meaning that the budgeted revenue in that fund is lower than expected for 2020.
The Blaine City Council prioritized the available funds in the charitable gambling fund to fulfill scheduled donations to Alexandra House, local food shelves, and organizations serving the homeless. If funding is identified and large group gathering restrictions are changed there is a possibility of a late summer or fall fireworks show.

Safety of the audience is our number one priority. There are weather conditions that make shooting fireworks unsafe. Hollywood Pyrotechnics closely monitors the weather and may alter the time of the show in accordance. The show may start early or late. Notifying the public of a last minute change in time is difficult, but the city will attempt to put a notice on our Park and Rec alert system and on social media.
