Blaine Safety Camp
Safety's Intention is Accident Prevention
-
The Blaine Police Department, Spring Lake Park – Blaine – Mounds View Fire Department, and Blaine Parks and Recreation co-sponsor an exciting program to teach kids, through a variety of fun activities, how to be safe in their daily lives.
Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death and disabling injury for children ages birth to 14. The goal of Safety Camp is to help reduce the number of these incidents. Students will spend two days learning skills necessary to avoid injury and cope with emergency situations.
Safety Camp is open to incoming 4th grade children residing in the Blaine area. It is a two day (not overnight) event held each year in the summer, rain or shine. The $50 fee to attend Safety Camp includes lunch, snacks, adult leadership, supplies, fitted bike helmet, and a t-shirt.
Words from Parents
My son had a wonderful experience. This is a great opportunity to reinforce different safety concepts he has been learning. I can’t wait for my younger child to attend.

The value of Blaine Safety camp is immeasurable. It should be offered to “kids” of all ages, including their parents!

This program is fantastic. I was amazed at all the topics covered. The quadriplegic/artist was an incredible powerful message (even for me and I didn’t see him in person).

The night after the celebration, my son was riding his bike with a friend. They noticed that there was a guy in a car watching them and making lots of turns. He was trilled that he knew what to do. I am soooooo grateful for safety camp!

Thanks to all the public safety professionals who take time to do this. They are great role models for the kids. For the kids to get to know them and have fun with them – I think it will increase their respect and appreciation for the services they provide for our communities.
