Blaine is one of seven Minnesota cities that has received recognition for its government website.
Juggle.com, a research website, presented the Top Minnesota City Government Websites award to Blaine, Bloomington, Maple Grove, Forest Lake, Rochester, Northfield and Red Wing. The award was presented to cities for incorporating innovative design and content into websites that offer citizens access to a variety of government information in a user-friendly setting.
Blaine's website was relaunched last June.
Heidi Andrea, Blaine's web coordinator, accepted the award during the November 4 City Council meeting.
"I'm excited with how it turned out," Andrea said. She told the council she looked at other city websites and received input regarding what city departments would like to see on the website.
"My expectation is that we're best in class, and this [award] exhibits that," said City Manager Clark Arneson, adding that the city needs to go where people are, which is on the Internet.
"We're very proud of what you've done," Mayor Tom Ryan said.
