The 3M Open is an annual PGA Tour event that takes place at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, MN. The event brings 156 of the best professional golfers in the world and 150,000 spectators to Blaine each year.
Previously, Blaine and the TPC Twin Cities played host to the 3M Championship a PGA Tour Champions event. The move to the regular PGA Tour will increase the economic impact of the event from an estimated $17 million per year to an estimated $50 million per year.
The tournament will also include auxiliary events such as a major concert at the National Sports Center, in 2019 the concert will be headlined by Zac Brown Band.
For the inaugural year of the tournament the City of Blaine in conjunction with the 3M Open hosted public information open houses on May 8. Some of the topics covered at the meetings included; parking, traffic, road closures and detours, rental licensing, TPC neighborhood impacts, and tournament site security measures.
