Burglary & Theft

Investigation Process

Detectives investigate property crimes. Property crimes investigated most often are thefts of property and burglaries (vehicle, residential and business).

Once a crime has occurred and a report has been written, the report is forwarded to the Investigative Division for review to determine if the case is going to be active (requiring follow-up/investigation by a detective) or inactive (requiring no follow-up).

A detective is assigned to all active cases. The detective will perform a thorough investigation, including contact victims and witnesses.
