Best of Show Poppies and Ditch Flowers Batik Watercolor) Kathy Weinbeck
An eye catching piece that immediately caught and held my attention. This piece looks as amazing from a distance as it does from close inspection. A wonderful color scheme which focuses on bright poppies is simply smile inducing. A perfect matt and frame complicate this lovely painting.
1st Place Blue Wasp and Hydrangeas (colored Pencil) Sharyn Erickson
At a distance this piece has a rather photographic quality. Being an artist who enjoys working with colored pencil medium, I can appreciate this artist’s ability to create an almost watercolor-like effect. The composition of this piece was well executed from background to the finely detailed blue wasp. The rough torn paper is a nice touch, and the frame is very complimentary.
2nd Place Poison (Gouache and Watercolor) Surelle Schewe
A classy piece with a rather vintage feel to it. A well executed sketch/ watercolor that leaves the viewer curious as to what story the artists is telling. This painting feels like it was an illustration torn from the pages of a romantic story book. Classic black frame completes this beautiful piece of art.
3rd Place Summer Greens (Watercolor) Karen McDermott
A wonderful limited palette of greens and yellows dance from a shadowy background to a foreground to the soft, airy affect of flower and foliage. Perfectly framed and matted to compliment this warm and lovely piece.
