October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Blaine City Council recently passed a proclamation calling domestic violence a “critical public health and welfare concern”. Last year Minnesotans reached out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline more than 2,200 times. Blaine had the sixth highest amount of calls placed to the hotline from Minnesota.
Alexandra House, a Blaine based non-profit, works every day to empower victims of domestic and sexual violence, and inspire social change, through education, support, and advocacy. Alexandra House has been a place of refuge for women and children for over 40 years. Each year Alexandra House gives shelter to hundreds of victims of abuse and provides additional services to thousands more.
We are proud to have a service agency like Alexandra House call Blaine home.
