Trash carts and basketball hoops are common things to see in the street at various times. However, placing these things on the curb or pavement is actually against the city’s right of way management ordinance because they significantly impact both the traveling public and municipal operations such as plowing and street sweeping.
The proper placement is simple but extremely important for efficient operations. Trash carts may not be placed on the street surfaces. Trash carts should be placed in the cleared driveway area or an area of the boulevard cleared to allow for their placement up to two feet behind the curb when waiting for pickup. This allows snowplow and sweeping crews to clean the streets from curb to curb.
