Pet owners may have noticed pet waste stations installed in various neighborhoods in the last year. Disposing pet waste in these stations goes a long way to help protect our water. In 2021, over 10,000 pounds of pet waste was picked up from 13 stations.
Even a small amount of dog waste contains lots of water pollutants, like E. coli bacteria and phosphorus. Improperly disposed waste can flow into storm drains by rain and melting snow, eventually getting into local bodies of water. Thanks for doing your part to help to keep our water clean.
