Special Election -
Ward 2 Council Vacancy

Councilmember Julie Jeppson was elected as Anoka County Commissioner for District 6 on November 8, 2022 and took office January 3, 2023, which created a vacancy in Ward 2 with a term to expire January 6, 2025.  The Council formally declared the vacancy and called for a special election for April 11, 2023, to fill this seat.  Candidate filing for this vacancy will be January 31 through February 14 during regular business hours at Blaine City Hall.  Candidates must be: 

• an eligible voter in Blaine 
• have not filed for another office 
• 21 years of age or more upon assuming office 
• maintained residence in their ward for at least 30 days before the special election
