Purse Thefts & More

A note for the ladies in the group.  Be mindful of where you place your purse at a restaurant.  Hanging it on the chair and leaving it open is how thieves
are taking advantage of this opportunity.  I’ve seen a few reports from around the metro of women who reported a wallet is stolen and credit cards used
immediately after.  Some of the restaurants are food/coffee type places where people meet to enjoy a beverage and maybe a light meal.

One frequent type of call I notice officers are responding to are pocket dials of 9-1-1 or small children playing with the phone.

If you happen to be at either Schwans Ice Rink or Fogerty arena, do not leave your purse or other valuable in your car.  If possible, place any valuables in your trunk before you get there.  We have seen an uptick in theft from autos at both places.  This crime is completely preventable.

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) will never call and ask you for money.  Read more here: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2018/02/ftc-will-never-ask-you-send-money?utm_source=govdelivery

Texting and driving, it can wait.
