Tech Scam Alert!!

Computer repair scams have increased a bit.  The caller tells the victim their computer needs repair or is sending error messages.  The caller asks to connect to their computer remotely, and two things have occurred; the caller held one victims computer information for ransom and the other victims were told to pay for the “repair service” with gift cards and or iTunes gift cards.  Losses to victims have been less than a thousand dollars.
More information from the FTC.gov can be found here:
https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2018/02/stopping-scams-targeting-older-consumers?utm_source=govdelivery

Victims are not just seniors, but cover a wide age range.

Beware of the fake IRS phone calls demanding money, they too, are fake. Officers are still seeing a few reports trickle in.

A reminder from Public Works about the overnight parking ban.  Plow drivers need the entire width of the street to effectively clear it.

Texting and driving can wait.  It’s time to put the phone down.
