Vacant Homes in Your Area

Are there any vacant homes in your neighborhood? If so, keep an eye on it.  A possible “new” twist on package delivery theft; said person has package delivered to vacant home
and is seen following a UPS truck in the neighborhood.  UPS delivers a package to the vacant home.  Said “thief”? pulls into driveway after UPS drives away and picks up
the package.  Contact was made with home owner who informed the officer they do not live there nor have they had any packages delivered there. So, what could be the reason?

Most likely someone made a purchase (possibly from an unauthorized credit card) and had the package delivered to the vacant house. This is a good reason to watch a vacant home in your neighborhood.  If you do see a vehicle following any delivery vehicle and stealing the package after it was delivered, collect as much information as possible, vehicle description and license plate/state, person description and direction of travel when they left.  It’s a mere 24 days until holiday shopping begans.

Daylight Savings Time

This weekend also signifies daylight savings time.  Don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors:

If you have a hunting shack/cabin and or ice house, CO detectors are a must! A recent news story of two men who died in a fire did not have a smoke or CO detector.
Regardless of the age of the ice house, cabin or shack, it’s important to have a smoke detector/CO in each of them with fresh batteries.
