Blaine Biz Connect is a monthly e-newsletter to keep you up to date on development happenings in the City of Blaine. From commercial to industrial to residential, Blaine is one of the fastest growing cities in Minnesota and always has new and exciting projects on the horizon.

In this newsletter, you will learn about featured developments, groundbreakings, grand openings, new businesses coming to Blaine, and recent approvals by the City Council.

Crown Iron Works

Featured Development

In October, Mortenson Development began construction of the new global headquarters for Crown Iron Works. Located at 9879 Naples Street, the new 67,740 square foot building will include office and warehouse space, and a 5,000 square foot extraction plant. Crown Iron Works is a global supplier of oilseed extraction technology, refining plants, and processing equipment. Crown is a leader in their business with over 400 Crown designed facilities in operation worldwide.

The new location will give Crown Iron Works the space they need for production and pilot facilities. Crown Iron Works has been in business for over 135 years and has locations in the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Honduras and Mexico. The company will be bringing over 100 jobs to the new Blaine location and will be hiring an additional 15 employees within the first two years. Over 70 percent of the jobs the company will provide in Blaine have a salary over $100,000. They plan on moving into their facility in the summer of 2019.


Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites

Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites

Development of a new hotel in Blaine started earlier this fall. The new Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites is located at 106th Avenue and Davenport Street near Brick’s Kitchen & Pub. The 82 room hotel will also include an indoor pool, fitness center and meeting space. Construction is anticipated to be completed next summer

Harbor Freight

Harbor Freight

Harbor Freight recently started construction on their new store at 117th Avenue and Ulysses Street. The discount tool and equipment retail store will be over 16,000 square feet. Construction is anticipated to be completed by next spring. Harbor Freight has five other metro locations in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Maplewood, Bloomington, and Burnsville.

Kwik Trip Ribbon Cutting

Kwik Trip

Kwik Trip recently celebrated the grand opening of their third store in Blaine. The 7,200 square foot building, located at the corner of 105th Avenue and Radisson Road includes gas, a convenience store and a car wash. A fourth Kwik Trip is under construction at 122nd and Lexington Avenues and will open this winter.

Panera Bread

Panera Bread

Panera Bread recently opened their second restaurant in Blaine in the Victory Village shopping area near 109th Avenue and Davenport Street. This building completes the Victory Village development which also includes Target, Raising Canes and other retail/restaurants.

Blaine Central Vet Clinic

Blaine Central Veterinary Clinic

The clinic recently moved to their new location at 2181 108th Lane. The larger location allows for the business to continue to grow and provide quality service to their customers. Blaine Central Veterinary Clinic was established in Blaine in 2006.

Recent City Council Approvals

2040 Comp Plan

2040 Comprehensive Plan

On November 15 the City Council approved the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The 2040 Comprehensive Plan provides an opportunity to establish a vision for how the community will grow and develop over the coming decades and is intended to be reflective of the desires of the entire community. The plan includes various chapters such as parks, land use, housing, economic development, and transportation. Creation of the plan included public involvement, input from city boards and commissions and the Blaine City Council. Minnesota state statute requires cities within the seven-county metropolitan area to update their comprehensive plan every ten years. Please visit the to view the plan

Wagamon Ranch

Wagamon Ranch Third Addition

On November 15 the Blaine City Council approved the final plat for Wagamon Ranch Third Addition which includes 44 single family lots. This is the final phase of the Wagamon Ranch housing development located near the northern city limits of Blaine on 132nd Avenue and Coral Sea Street.
