Preventable Auto Thefts Reported

This past week two auto theft were reported. In one case the victim reported leaving the garage door open. In the other report the victim stated the keys were left inside a locked vehicle.
If you leave your garage door open when you are home, it is an invitation for thieves to take advantage of an opportunity.

Lock your car doors whether the vehicle is parked outside or inside a garage, remove the keys, and anything of value. Visible pocket change, bags, and computers are just a few examples of things criminals might be looking for. If you see a neighbor’s garage door open at night, call or text them and let them know to close it

Reports of people sleeping in their vehicle are increasing. Homelessness is a real issue. Consider offering them a sandwich and/or a blanket.

Recent Report Offers Warnings

A resident reported a phone call from ADT asking if their home was for sale, which they confirmed. The suspect asked if they would be keeping ADT or transferring the service to their new home. After a short conversation, the call was ended.

The resident then called ADT to inquire if they would call and ask that of a customer. They confirmed they would not. The complainant was advised to keep the alarm system active until new owners moved in to the home.
