3. How do I renew my rental license?

If you had a license the previous year, renewal information will be mailed to you in December. This will only be mailed to the owner, not the tenant or manager.

4. How much does it cost?

A single family license is $190 each year.

5. How long is my license effective?

The rental license year runs 1/1 - 12/31 each year.

6. Do I need an inspection?

Yes. We do an "interior" inspection every 3 years and an "exterior' inspection every year.

7. How do I set up an inspection?

You may call the Housing Department at 763-785-6146 or we will contact you.

8. Do I need to attend the inspection?

Yes. The owner MUST attend the interior inspection. The tenant can choose to be there if they want. You do not need to schedule or attend the exterior inspection. Interior inspections are Monday through Friday and usually take about 20 minutes.

9. What do you look for in the inspection?

10. Are there any other fees other than the rental license?

No. Everything is included in the single family $190 yearly fee. Although, not paying on time, not showing up for your inspection or not correcting your violations before the re-inspection appointment can result in additional fees.
